To the zoo!

We took our little monkey for his first trip to the zoo this weekend, he was still recovering from the flu so wasn't as excited as I'm sure he would have been. But I made up for that with my excitement I think, because I got to see an elephant this time! A six-month pregnant me waddled around the zoo last year and there wasn't an elephant to be seen!

Family photo-op time...

Real elephant...

Not so real elephant...

I totally broke tradition by not wearing animal print to the zoo. Shocking huh?!

Things I'm loving...

Well, I haven't been loving the flu this week. And haven't been loving the little one having it too. But I have been loving...

That even with the flu and feeling miserable, Reece still gives lots of smiles and giggles. He's been teaching me this week that even though I may feel sick, I don't have to act it.

That my folks and lil bro are leaving about now to make the long trek to Auckland (they live in Houhora, that's 5 hours north of here people!) to visit us. And that we're going to see these guys on Sunday night. Woop!

Re-arranging the furniture in the lounge and having it totally clean (well until the lil monkey wakes up)

Changing my blog name, to something, well, more me.

*This face. It's not his cutest of faces, but definitly my favourite!
*Mixing up my knitting by introducing the purl stitch!
*Yummy, yummy hokey pokey hot chocolate! I've been having lots of this this week!

Inspiring words

Feeling all icky and sick today and my little monkey's feeling the same (the poor thing, his little coughing fits break my heart).

The bonus of having the flu- it's a great excuse for a lazy day. So now that the little one has gone down for a nap I'm watching good morning and searching the net for inspiring things to cheer me up. yup, i'm a multi-tasking women alright! heh heh.

Here's a few of my fave inspiring words...

Just wondering...

When the Queen is no longer the Queen, will we still get Queen's birthday weekend?
Or will it change to a Kings birthday weekend instead?
I hope we get both. That'd be nice.

Happy Queen's birthday everyone!
Did you get her something nice? I thought about making her a cake, but mehh

Then & Now

May 2010

(i kinda miss this belly now...)

May 2011

I had the most wonderful first mothers day! I got treated to a yummy brekkie, a box of choccies and an awesome trip to the beach. This morning I got a not-so-lovely treat, the results of a certain young boy feasting on sand...ick!

Drizzle and Grizzle

Yup its one of those days!
The grizzling stopped for a few minutes though, and there was silence in the house.
And I found him throwing things into the bath (by things I mean shampoo bottles, bath toys, toilet roll??)

Melting Moments...

After a meeting last night (to organise a tea party, yay!) I opened the door to this delicious sight.
And totally melted...

Tunesday

I'm not sure why, but I really have a thing for songs with banjos, harmonicas and stuff.
Songs that are a wee bit "hick".
Love, love, love this song... and its totally appropriate for a rainy, blustery day like today.

A really good friday

On the bright side...

That's what I'm trying to do more often, look on the bright side. Because there always is one. Even though sometimes you really, really have to search for it.

It's a lot easier to think of the bad things than the good. To get weighed down by the negative. To think "nothings going right" when one little thing doesn't go as planned. So that's why I've started this blog.

A place for the things I love, things I make and things I am inspired by. A place for the moments that fill me with joy.

A reminder to myself of the good in life. The sunshine amongst the shadow.
